TIME--where does it go, eh?
Jan. 2nd, 2011 04:20 pmMy little brother is getting married in LESS THAN A WEEK! With finishing school and the holidays, the event has just sorta creeped up on me.
Wedding to dos:
♥ Mani/pedi. (Whoever this task falls to will have their work cut out for them!)
♥ Purchase stockings to wear.
♥ Make an appointment to have my hair done. (The bride is doing her own hair! Don't I feel precious???)
♥ Make a wedding present. I'm thinking of fancying-up some photos of them and putting them into frames.
♥ Decide if I want to write them a poem/give a wedding toast. I don't have to, since I'm not the Maid of Honor, but...I dunno how self-conscious I'll feel on the day, and if my mom gets wind of the idea, not only will she make SO NERVOUS about it I spend the entire day dreading it, but she'll also make it impossible to back out at the last minute. Ugh.
General to dos:
* Job hunting, job hunting, job hunting. (Despite not knowing where to begin!)
* Finish my laundry/make more laundry detergent.
* Write my Baubles to It entry for
pulped_fictions.
* MAKE AN EFFORT to call and catch up with friends, see how their holidays went.
Oh, 2011...you're gonna be a pain in the ass, aren't you?

Date: 2011-01-02 09:35 pm (UTC)All of these things should be easy-peesy for you.
I still have to write my Baubles To It too... or slap it into submission because I've been writing it in my head and now it's time to put into words, actual words on a page. :D

Tell the story first and the rest will follow.

Date: 2011-01-02 09:50 pm (UTC)Also! I keep forgetting that I owe you a counter-challenge in our holiday music battle, and I was going to write my challenge on a postcard and send it but it's New Year-related and, well, it's getting a little late for that so I'll send you a challenge via post sometime random and until then:
SURPRISE MUSIC BATTLE: COUNTER-CHALLENGE
New Year's resolutions, the musical! At least three songs you yourself would be willing to sing in response to "What is your resolution this year?" ^_^

Date: 2011-01-02 11:27 pm (UTC)There's all kinds of recipes out there for laundry detergent; here's the one I use. You basically need three ingredients: a bar of soap, borax, and washing soda (different from baking soda, but also made by Arm & Hammer). I would have made the detergent today, but the store I went out to didn't carry washing soda, and I didn't feel like driving out to the Big Grocery Store to buy it.
That is an excellent counter-challenge! Oh man, I am excite!!!

Date: 2011-01-02 11:34 pm (UTC)I do have a VAGUE idea. I need to flesh it out and make it story-worthy, though. (I base a lot of my writing around little scenes/moods/thoughts that get stuck in my head, and then obsess over whether or not they're interesting enough to be the subject of a story.)
How about you?

Date: 2011-01-02 11:39 pm (UTC)Yeah I have an idea, and I'm currently struggling to create drawings that will tell the story properly in two pages. ;)

Date: 2011-01-02 11:31 pm (UTC)I haven't started either! I'm just so relieved to be done with all the fic competitions/exchanges I committed myself to for December, I can barely bring myself to open up a Word document!

Date: 2011-01-03 12:08 am (UTC)I use a statewide job search - MNworks.net - and a Nonprofit board and Craigslist, among a few others that are unreliable. Maybe you have a similar version of the top two? Craigslist is really good.
How do you make laundry detergent? O_o

Date: 2011-01-03 12:17 am (UTC)To make laundry detergent: shave a bar of soap (like Ivory) with a grater. Heat a few cups of water on the stove in a saucepan, and dump in the soap; stir until dissolved. Pour contents of pan into 5 gallon bucket or other equally large vessel. Add one cup of Borax and 1/2 cup washing soda. Dilute with about 5 gallons of water. Let cool (mixture will gel slightly) and then pour into gallon milk jugs/empty detergent bottles/whatever. Voila!
It's super easy, all natural and environmentally friendly, and CRAZY cheap.

Date: 2011-01-03 05:14 pm (UTC)Urgh, good luck with the job hunting. Deciding where to begin is the hardest part, for sure. BUT YOU CAN DO IT, just put your foot down and start with one thing at a time. :S
