apple_pathways: Whatever floats your boat! (Shoes!)

$15.00 at a consignment shop! Don't adjust your screen: those are 5 inch heels! ;)

I wanna make out with these shoes

They're Steve Madden, too; normally I don't care much about labels, but I hate it when secondhand shops charge you $12-$15 bucks for a cheap department store brand I could have bought on clearance for half as much.

ETA: since my Flist seem to be a knowledgable, learned bunch, I thought I would pose you all a question. I bought these shoes from a chain of secondhand stores called Plato's Closet. Does anyone know WTF the name means? Is it a reference I'm not getting? Is there a passage in the Republic where Plato sells one of his old togas for cash?

To keep this post from being completely shallow, a plea to all the audiobook fans!

I have an Audible.com membership, and I get a free download every month. What should I go for this month? I always have a hard time deciding. So tell me: is there something out new that I should check out? An old favorite that's simply amazing? HELP!

As a giant nerd, Plato's Closet pokes fun at Plato's Allegory of the Cave. And now I'm loling at the idea of philosophers finding wisdom from second-hand clothes as opposed to shadows, hee.

I heart those shoes, so pretty! I've found Plato's Closet and Goodwill stores to be gold mines in terms of name brands. It's kinda fun with what you can find.

But how is it a reference to his allegory of the cave? Is it because closets and caves are both dark, enclosed spaces? Still confused...

I have mixed luck with secondhand shops. Like I said, they have piles of shoes that cost 30 bucks or so brand new, so why would I pay 15 for them secondhand?! But when you score, it's pretty awesome!

That's what I got out of it. I don't think we gain any new wisdom or insight to the outside world via the Closet, but eh, it sort of works. :)

Indeed it is awesome! I usually hit up Goodwill for new books to read and cute little gift ideas. Just found an awesome tea-set from England a few weeks ago.

Tea sets! I can't wait until I have a house of my own and room to collect all of the weird, wonderful stuff I love, like tea sets.

Why yes, my aspiration is to be one of those crazy cat ladies who has to be dug out from under an avalance of knick knacks when she dies, why do you ask?? ;)

Haha, it's my first tea set! I'm so proud. And the coolest thing is that it's Spode, this awesome English brand, and supposedly it's from around the 1800s...I paid 8 bucks for it :). Now it sits all pretty in my cabinet.

Nothing wrong with that, hee :)
