You remember that scene from Dead Poets' Society where Todd stands up on his desk to protest the dismissal of Mr. Keating?

OMG THIS VIDEO IS JUST LIKE THAT SCENE!

I am so sick of this crap happening!

GRRRR... this is why reading the news or listening to the news burns me up and I have to step away and listen to music. What is wrong with people today?!

That kid really worked on his statement and a lovely one it is. He did a really good job representing himself.

I would like to know exactly under which policy this teacher was suspended! It makes me sick to think that this happened only 30 miles from where I live.

But that kid was AMAZING! He is so composed and well-spoken. At FOURTEEN! I am impressed.

This makes me kind of sad and hopeful at the same time. It's so depressing that to think in this day and age such blatant prejudice is still happening. I once heard someone say that homophobia was the last acceptable form of hatred, and I think they were right. But it's encouraging to see kids like the boy in the video standing up for what's right. I wish that I could carry this video around and show it to everyone who says that teenagers today are only apathetic and self-absorbed.

...Wow, this comment kind of got away from me. Sorry. I'll put away my soap box and quit ranting at you. :) But I hope the school board does reverse the decision, and man, someone should give that kid a high five or something because that statement was amazing.

It's a topic worth ranting about! I was just so impressed with this kid. When he kinda teared up at the end, talking about how he would feel to have a teacher stand up for him like that...yeah, I lost it. What an awesome kid!
