Dear Yuletide Writer
Oct. 4th, 2017 07:38 pmI hope I get this up in time to keep you from panicking! :) It's been a minute since I participated in Yuletide, and I'm not much in the fandom rhythm anymore.
So! You've been assigned to write me a story, eh? Well, take heart: I am predisposed to be pleased by any amount of effort at all. I'll give you what guidance I can, whilst also offering creative license to do as please within the generous bounds of my request. There are things that I like, but most of all, I'd like you to write a story you're excited to write. That will delight me most of all. Thus, here are my Yuletide wishes:
General Likes:
General Dislikes:
Oh, and I will explicitly state up front: you do not need to include every character I've requested. One, some, or all are equally fine. And feel free to add in any other characters from the canon as you see fit. As long as one of my requested characters is the focus, I am delighted!
Now, for some specifics:
Harlots
I love Charlotte. Sybil was my fave on Downton, and JBF is a babe. I really should have paid attention during the nominations process, because it is criminal that Daniel Marney was not nominated as a character. If you enjoy him enough to put him into your tale, that would be lovely! I'd love to know what he and Charlotte get up to post-series. (Charlotte and Daniel opening a brothel together...) A vignette expanding on events during the series would also be welcome!
If you're not into writing Mr. Marney, no worries. Any story that focuses on Charlotte would be a pleasure. Perhaps a lesson from Nancy Birch? Charlotte strikes out on her own to start her own house? She lends a hand to lovebirds Amelia and Violet?
Nancy Birch: back story! Or giving lessons to Charlotte, Violet, or Amelia.
Violet and Amelia: Happily ever after! Making a life together. Giving in to the passion. Any and all of the above!
The Handmaids' Tale
Nick and June. June and Nick! June's life is so dark and terrible, I find myself grateful she has Nick to cling to. Some ideas for stories about them: the aftermath of her "escape". One time they met before the events of the series. June must choose between Nick and Luke...or must she?
I did not request Moira, but I do love her, so include her in any capacity you see fit, should you be so inclined.
Neverwhere
I don't know how you'd make it work, but a hot f/f scene between Door and Anaesthesia would be amazing.
OR tell me what happens to Anaesthesia after she's taken by the Night. Is it really the end? Or what was her life like before London Below?
Door is a fascinating character. Anything about her would be welcome! Especially what happens after the events of the novel.

General Likes:
- Femslash
- Het (with an officially sanctioned male participant!)
- Plotty plots (sucker for a good story!)
- Dark themes
- Humor! (dark or otherwise)
- Fairy tales and folklore (and the incorporation of traditional archetypes)
- Smut. If you're into writing it, I enjoy: cross-dressing, dirty talk, first times, cuddling, spanking, hair-pulling, and a host of other things. I'm a huge fan of ridiculous dub-con porn tropes like Sex Pollen and Aliens-Made-Them-Do-It. (Yes, I know there aren't any canonical "aliens" in the fandoms I've requested. Feel free to get creative, if the idea inspires you. ;) Oh, forced proximity, too. Or "we have to do it quiet so we don't get caught". Or semi-public sex. Threesomes. Etc. But seriously, if you're into writing sex, I will not be disappointed with a story that does not include sex!
General Dislikes:
- Blood. I should mention that I have a blood phobia. That doesn't mean you need to avoid any mention of blood in your story: I'm a horror fan, and more than used to a little gore on the page. I just can't handle gratuitous descriptions of bleeding/bloodletting, or any sort of erotic bloodplay.
- Crossovers. I'm just not familiar with enough different fandoms to enjoy these!
- Excessive introspection. Show not tell, etc.
- M/M slash as the focus. I'm more into what the lady characters are up to! Though feel free to pair up any and all background characters in whatever combos you please.
