My Garden is a Hot Mess
Aug. 13th, 2010 07:50 pmI now admit defeat: the weeds have won! A combination of my mother's injury and sweltering 90 degree August days have conspired to sap any will to weed from me. Whatever plants are left are dying from one fungal disease or another, or simply running amok and doing their own thing without any input from me.
Nevertheless, the tomatoes are delicious, the Swiss Chard is still producing like a champ, and since I finally found some tahini, I'll be making my parsley into Tabouleh tomorrow. And look, look at my pumpkins and watermelons!
(Ignore the weeds...)

This picture quite accurately depicts the current state of the garden: note the brown, dying leaves of the pumpkin vine, and the copious weeds. | Nevertheless, they seem to be ripening up well. |
There are still green pumpkins and blossoms, too; I hope they make it! | Oh, you gorgeous girl! |
The watermelons are getting big. | |
This guy is undercover, amongst the weeds. | Hang in there, you can make it! |
