A question, dear flist:

If you were running a spring fanworks fest, what would you name it? (Keeping in mind that I am likely to steal your answer...)

Quick poll:

[Poll #1681905]

Also: what other phrases/sayings can you think of that are about spring?

For some great Sherlock fic reading, here is a Masterlist of all the works produced for Sherlockmas's Christmas fanworks exchange. :D

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt. ~Margaret Atwood

Why is it not spring now??? I want to dig in my garden!!!

Okay, well, I voted for puns because they can be cute in a title.

I said 'Spring Forward'. I wouldn't use the Darling Buds one or the Spring into Sherlock one.

I'm not actually in Sherlock fandom, so IDK anything really helpful...
I think of Spring break when I think of Spring...how about...Sherlock's Spring Break In? Or Spring Break Out? IDK if that's dumb or not, it's late LOL.

Yeah...I've been eating Valentine's candy and am a bit slap-happy tonight, so not all of the names I came up with are entirely serious. :P I'm just wracking my brain to come up with anything and everything spring-related!

Spring break! I forgot all about that one. Awesome, I'm gonna have to meditate on that on for awhile! Thanks for your help. :D

I love the idea of Sherlock's Spring Break-In, though more as a prompt than an entire fest. (-:

Hmm, keep that in mind when prompting starts next week!

I just need to name this damn thing so I can make a graphic for it!

Would you like to read what I have so far for the gift fic due today! :D

Also, real quick... do we know what color Irene's eyes are meant to be. About to Google it and then I shall send it. The first turn of the characterization will be done once I finish this fact finding quest. Sadly I am only at 486 words, but have the entire thing plotted. I have until midnight, yeah?

I have just skimmed A Scandal in Bohemia, and didn't come across any description of her eye color; I think you can feel free to invent that detail!

Oh, and midnight or thereabouts: if it's posted tomorrow morning, I won't fret! I mostly set a hard deadline for those who signed up originally, and have had three months now to write something.

So: do what you can with it! So long as I know you'll have it ready by tomorrow, I am very happy!

OMIGOSH... have you read this?

It's brilliant and sort of backs up what you just said. It's pages of pages of interesting Sherlockian meta and non-meta but research to create meta.

It will be done tonight. Or the first part of it, because I am turning it into a series of stand-alone encounters Lestrade has with five people. :D

I will definitely be bookmarking that to comb through whenever I get the chance! (You do know it's dangerous to point me toward these sorts of things, right? Guh, the levels of detail to obsess over!)

I am just very happy that I've heard from the authors of the last three stories I'm waiting for. You and the other person who offered to pinch hit I'm not worried about--after all, you only had two weeks to write. The other person has had three months and just PMed me to ask for "one more day". *sigh* JUST GET IT DONE AND TURN IT IN SO WE CAN BOTH MOVE ON WITH OUR LIVES!

Anyway. Almost done! And then I can focus on our spring fest, which will not involve disappointed recipients if authors fall through!

Spring Fling? (Wheeere do I know that phrase from? I am going to go insane trying to figure it out, dammit!)

Also: Always puns. Puns are good.

No help on the title, but I do have 'spring has sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where the fanfic is?' as a tagline, lol.

I like Spring into Sherlock just cos that way it's... obviously about Sherlock! :)

TY :D. I write this stuff for work - cheesy tweaked pop culture references pay my bills, and it's really hard to turn it off, lol.

That's awesome. I'm also intrigued now as to what you do... Advertising?

From: [identity profile] ladybracknell.livejournal.com
Got it in one :D. I'm a copywriter - online ads mostly, with a lot of truly horrendous puns. My best one last week was something like, 'Hey Sherlock, did you know the body has two brains?' 'Alimentary, my dear Watson. One in the head and one to govern the digestive system.' I used that to sell discount colonic hydrotherapy. sometimes I hate my life but I get to watch a lot of YouTube vids for inspiration so it could be worse

Ahahahahaha, "alimentary"?! You are a genius!

Hee! I'm about to go to Target and see if I can get some discounted candy, lol.

From: [identity profile] apple-pathways.livejournal.com
You mean: no one liked my "The Darling Buds of Sherlock" suggestion??? I am disappoint... "Rough winds do shake the darling buds of Sherlock" would have made such a catchy tagline... ;)

So should we go with "Spring into Sherlock" then? I can whip up a graphic and we can start pimping.

When I was a kid, we had spring parties/fundraisers at school and we called them the "Spring Fling". I don't know if there's a more famous reference.

HELL YEAH puns! Glad to see most of you agree with me. ;)

THAT is excellent! But you don't want to know what I thought you were going to rhyme with 'riz'...

Oh, all right then - spring is sprung, the grass is riz, write us stuff to make us... appreciate things like rainbows and daffodils in the context of intellectual crime-fighting.

I LOVE PUNS YAY

Um.

Anyhoo… All of those are pretty epic. XD

I regret to report that it was spring (up to 75 degrees, wth?) for two days here. And now it's raining. XD

I also like your tags. XD

Date: 2011-02-16 04:32 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apple-pathways.livejournal.com
The tags exist largely for my amusement! I occasionally have delusions of organizing all the posts here, but...yeah, doesn't happen!

We're going with "Spring Into Sherlock" because we are SO CREATIVE!

I want your spring. I thought our 45 degrees was balmy!
