I don't know how qualified I am to give "life lessons", and sincerity does not always come easily. (Sarcasm, on the other hand...)

I'm going to hand the job over to Dave Barry, who said it first and said it funnier. (Taken from his list of "25 Things I Learned in 50 Years", this is my top 6.)

  1. "A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person."
  2. "No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously."
  3. "When trouble arises and things look bad, there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that individual is crazy."
  4. "People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them."
  5. "Your friends love you anyway."
  6. "Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance."

No 1 is SO TRUE. And good advice for a date. If a guy (or girl) is nice to you on a date but acts like a dick to the waiter then eventually, when the shine has worn off, they'll be a dick to you. Trufax.

It wasn't rudeness, but I once went on a date where the guy was so condescending and smug to the waitress--calling her "sweetie" and such. Blech! First date = last date.

Ugh. You just know a guy like that would refer to you as "the little lady" to his friends.
