It's days like this that confirm that autumn is my favorite season! Cool, crisp sunshiney weather! Delicious!

In celebration, here are some pics taken in my front yard:

yellow butterfly bush, Japanese maple, and maple tree from front yard

I love our maple tree--the tree in the background, next to the street. You'll notice that one half of it is flaming orange and yellow, and the other half is green and just beginning to turn orange; this is because there are actually two trees growing squished together so they look like one!

This isn't the most well-composed shot, but it does give you a nice view of the maple tree:

Canna in the foreground, maple tree in the background; looking out from our house.

a better version of the previous shot! Once again, cannas in front, maple in the back. Ignore neighbor's house across the street.

Once again, the maple tree, this time with bonfire begonia in the foreground

red salvia, marigolds, and fallen leaves

japanese anemone (pink flowers), marigolds, and fallen leaves

So pretty! It's still pushing 90 here in central California (yikes), so I'm wondering if we'll ever get our fall colors...

Oh good God! I don't know how you stand it...

(And I trust you won't be back to throw that lovely weather in my face when it's -10 and icy over here!)

You should post pics when the colors do come in. I imagine California fall color is gorgeous.

I layer. Tank top for the drive home, lightweight sweater to keep my arms warm while at work, and getting out of the house at every opportunity or sleeping through the worst of the afternoon heat waves on the weekends. (My room suffers from bad air circulation, so the A/C does nothing. Sleep, however, fixes a myriad of problems.)

(I'll do my best not to. We may not have ice, but we do have craptastically thick fog (San Francisco has nothing on us; their fog blows out to sea) and lots of rain. I'll probably complain about that.)

California fall color is nice, but it pales in comparison to the color in Virginia where I went to college. The hill across the freeway from campus was covered in trees that looked like they caught fire. It was gorgeous. But if I remember to do it, I'll take pictures.

So lovely there are still flowers amongst the falling leaves. My Japanese Maple is that color now, too.

We're having a superb fall so far. I love this weather and this season.

It really is gorgeous! I thought I'd heard something about a nasty winter, though--I REALLY hope not!

Pretty! Colorado is finally changing, stupid weather keeps yo-yo-ing from 50 to 80 degrees.

We were like that a few weeks ago. It FINALLY feels like fall now!

Oh breathtaking foliage!

The fall cannot be more gorgeous here except for the lack of color changing and sporadic low 80s days that keep popping up.

Hee... I am at work by myself and on the computer because I have nothing I can do right now. My proficiency that good.

Hmm, I need to get a Good Omens icon...

I love fall colors! But ask me how much I'm loving it once we go back to our usual fall schedule of freezing rain and overcast skies.

Ooh, you've got some lovely colors already. Things are mostly yellow in Chicago, which isn't nearly as exciting. Though I did find that one of my morning glories had risen from the dead and flowered again this morning.

Ah yes, fall comes sooner "oop north". My mother planted a few morning glories at the back of the yard, but they were swallowed up by the trumpet vine and she thought they did. They, too, have resurrected and are in bloom now! Go, morning glories! What survivors!

Oh wow, that is so pretty! The leaves are starting to turn here, too - I drive by a state park on the way home from work and it's gorgeous.
