apple_pathways: Whatever floats your boat! (My pumpkin!)

More pictures of plants and such, this time mostly from my herb garden. I love herbs, and every year I have such big plans to do more with them (dry them, make teas and sachets, cook more, etc...) but there's always so much to do with a garden in the summer, it's easy to get burnt out with just all the general maintenance. Still, herbs are pretty low-maintenance plants, and they've managed thrive in spite of my ADD attitude to gardening.

herb garden: lavender and thyme

zinnias in bloom
I think zinnias might be my absolute favorite flower; they're easy to grow, come in many gorgeous colors, and bloom all summer long.
patio flowers
Here's a look at the rest of the flowers around the patio: blue and red salvia, snapdragons, marigolds, and alyssum.
close up of sage
Here's a close up on a fuzzy sage leaf, with other herbs, notably lemongrass and lemon verbena, in the background.
english thyme
English Thyme
chamomile
Regegade chamomile; I planted it in pots last year, and it managed to re-seed itself in the garden.
close-up of lavender bud
Lavender bud in the foreground, lemon verbena, lemongrass, and chives in the background.
my cat, Franny
Franny is a garden cat; she "helps" by stalking the hummingbirds while I work.
patio stones with moss and flowers
I love the moss that grows between the patio stones; it gives everything such a romantic look.
patio container plants
Begonias, Calladium, Coleus, and purple fan flowers in the pation containers.
bird bath The bird bath in the center of my herb garden.
overgrown compost bin
We have a little stretch of woods behind our yard, and years ago my parents built a compost bin out there; it's a bit overgrown now!
spent orange daylily
We also use that little stretch of woods to house plants we no longer have room for in the garden. Here's a spent daylily bloom in front of a tangle and grapevines and weeds.

I love gardens like this. Not planned out. Flowers just growing wildly. Everything over spilling its boundaries. If I didn't live with such an anal person I would turn most of my yard into a meadow with native plants and flowers.

Thanks so much! Yes, I love wildflowers and herbs and all the "scrubby" plants that don't often find their way into flower shows; and they're easier to grow, too!
