Garden Pics Galore
Jul. 31st, 2010 03:13 pmMore pictures of plants and such, this time mostly from my herb garden. I love herbs, and every year I have such big plans to do more with them (dry them, make teas and sachets, cook more, etc...) but there's always so much to do with a garden in the summer, it's easy to get burnt out with just all the general maintenance. Still, herbs are pretty low-maintenance plants, and they've managed thrive in spite of my ADD attitude to gardening.

I think zinnias might be my absolute favorite flower; they're easy to grow, come in many gorgeous colors, and bloom all summer long. | Here's a look at the rest of the flowers around the patio: blue and red salvia, snapdragons, marigolds, and alyssum. |
Here's a close up on a fuzzy sage leaf, with other herbs, notably lemongrass and lemon verbena, in the background. | English Thyme |
Regegade chamomile; I planted it in pots last year, and it managed to re-seed itself in the garden. | Lavender bud in the foreground, lemon verbena, lemongrass, and chives in the background. |
Franny is a garden cat; she "helps" by stalking the hummingbirds while I work. | I love the moss that grows between the patio stones; it gives everything such a romantic look. |
Begonias, Calladium, Coleus, and purple fan flowers in the pation containers. | The bird bath in the center of my herb garden. |
We have a little stretch of woods behind our yard, and years ago my parents built a compost bin out there; it's a bit overgrown now! | We also use that little stretch of woods to house plants we no longer have room for in the garden. Here's a spent daylily bloom in front of a tangle and grapevines and weeds. |
