Book meme snagged from
venivincere! All attempts to google international book week led to instances of this meme, so if international book week does exist, it's...probably not now. But no matter! Every week should be International Book Week! Also: Public Service Announcement: Banned Book Week (sponsored by the ALA) runs from September 30 to October 6, and this year is the 30th anniversary. Get you some banned books ready to read! It starts at the end of the month.
Meme: It's (probably not) international book week. The rules: Grab the closest book to you, turn to page 52, post the 5th sentence. Don't mention the title. Copy the rules as part of your post.
I am not good with rules that I don't make up myself, so have a varied selection of books I found within rolling chair distance of my computer:
~You see all these isolated facts, together with many minor ones, all pointed in the same direction.
~I shuddered, putting my hands over my ears, so that I couldn't hear any more of her ugly tirade.
~"He was the president."
~And there are a lot of record-industry types hanging around in the Nipponese Quadrant--which looks like the other quadrants except that it's quieter, the tables are closer to the floor, and it's full of bowing and fluttering geisha daemons.
~"Bwuvver Fwancis the gardener says that I mus' selfwesswy pwactice virtue an' wuv to all wivving fings," said Warlock.
~But I said that it wasn't a proper book because it didn't have a proper ending because I never found out who killed Wellington so the murderer was still At Large.
~She was there in the store for him to look at, not those others.
~"Zalu, why do I get the impression you're not glad to see me?"
