New year, new music. I NEED IT! ("New" being loosely-defined here, as in "not currently in my iTunes library.")

It's been awhile since I've seen a mixtape meme floating around, and it might be nice to get one more in before they take our internets away. Who's down?

Mix it up, spit it out!

What's going on here?

It's a mixtape meme, or more accurately: a playlist meme. Make a request for a music mix you'd like to groove to, and then put one together for someone else.

Who is this meme for?

Music lovers/appreciators of all kinds. Pretentious hipsterism/skinny jeans optional.

Do I have to commit to make a mix if I prompt?

Ideally yes, but no not really: anyone may prompt, and prompting does not constitute an obligation to mix.

Can I make fandom prompts? / Do I have to make fandom prompts?

You can make fandom prompts, but no: prompts do not have to be for a fandom. They can be for just a general music mix.

I'm sold! Now how do I begin?

1. Copy and paste this template into a new comment:

2. Fill out the form to the best of your ability. Feel free to be as vague or specific as you like.

Details on claiming/filling TBA, but here's the gist:

• There will be a limit on claims for the first few days, after which participants should feel free to go nuts.
  
• You'll have about a week after claiming begins before you can start posting, and then two additional weeks to finish up.
  
• Playlists should be available for download. Lists of free upload sites TBA (RIP Megaupload). Zip files preferred. Anonymizers are mandatory!
  
• Cover art is optional, but fun!
