How the hell did I miss that the voting for [livejournal.com profile] whoverse_las was this weekend? Major fail on my part. This would have been the weekend to vote, too, as there were only 13 entries instead of the usual 30 or so to slog through! Oh well...I see my f-list buddies used skips this week, so I don't feel too bad. ;)

Day 18 - Favorite beginning scene in a book
Day 19 - Favorite book cover (bonus points for posting an image!)
Day 20 - Favorite kiss

For favorite beginning scene, I'm going to go with Arthur Dent's house being bulldozed in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I don't think I have a favorite book cover! To be honest, I'm not a very visual person, and words tend to stand out for me more than pictures. I honestly could not tell you what most of the covers of my favorite books look like, even if I've read them more than dozen times. Sorry!

I've already written about my favorite kiss; it was in A Room With a View, where Lucy stumbles upon George standing amidst the field of violets and he kisses her. Ah hell! The passage is so damn good, I'll just copy it here again:

She did not answer. From her feet the ground sloped sharply into view, and violets ran down in rivulets and streams and cataracts, irrigating the hillside with blue, eddying round the tree stems, collecting into pools in the hollows, covering the grass with spots of azure foam. But never again were they in such profusion; this terrace was the well-head, the primal source whence beauty gushed out to water the earth.

Standing at its brink, like a swimmer who prepares, was the good man. But he was not the good man that she had expected, and he was alone.

George had turned at the sound of her arrival. For a moment he contemplated her, as one who had fallen out of heaven. He saw radiant joy in her face, he saw the flowers beat against her dress in blue waves. The bushes above them closed. He stepped forward quickly and kissed her.

In other news, I finished all my homework for the weekend (HOORAY!), so I get to goof around on LJ and write fan fiction for the rest of the night without guilt. Huzzah!

You should!!! I love any excuse to talk about books. If you're interested, I'll PM you the rest of the days if you need them: I never bother to put them all up.

Aww, yes. :D
I probably won't do it this month, but I'd love to take it on in November.
Thank you!
