So tell me: why is it that my parents, who are 58 and 62 years old, are not able to get themselves together to get out of the house for the weekend without my assistance?
My mom is awful when it comes to leaving for a trip. She always packs a lot more than she needs and then forgets half her stuff at home anyway. *shakes head*
It's sweet that you're able to help them out even as I empathize with this notion especially since I recently had to deal with my in-laws and what they needed to get through the airport.
Boy, does THAT sound familiar! No matter where she's going, my mom packs as if she expects to encounter the breakdown of civilized society. She doesn't seem to realize it's possible to BUY certain things should the (unlikely) need for them arise.
It was mostly dealing with a lot of technilogical stuff, which admittedly they are not good at. (Despite the fact that my father is a TECHNICIAN.)
I had to help my dad update my GPS which he was borrowing, and he's impatient like a little kid: "Is it working yet? Why isn't it doing anything? Is it frozen? Hit the reset button!"
And my mother wanted to borrow the cord to my iPod so she could charge hers while they're away. The fact that she couldn't find any one the TWO cords she owns for hers did not make me feel confidant about lending her mine.
They are spending two nights--TWO NIGHTS--visiting my brother and his fiancee in Indianapolis. Missions to the MOON have been planned with less fuss.
