Baby Pictures and Other Emblems of Spring

It's beginning: that time of year where I bore my flist with endless garden shots! I'll start off the season with a peek at the seedlings I have started in my basement.

The first three pictures were taken with my iPhone. The last five were taken with my mother's new fancy-schmancy camera that has a macro lens and whatnot. At some point during the photo shoot, I managed to change the proportions of the picture size, so...yeah.

And as a reward for looking at my boring seedling photos, some spring icons:

It's less of a window box and more of a... well, actually it is a metal bucket that will be sitting inside my window because I'm terrified that if it goes outside, the landscapers will destroy it. They already over-trimmed my azaleas, and ran over a rosebush with a lawnmower. Unfortunately the neighborhood hired them, not me, so I can't fire them for ruining my plants.

*shakes fist at plant-ruining landscapers*

So what will you grow in your bucket?

I am growing beefsteak tomatoes, cilantro, and cayenne peppers. I started them this afternoon and now my bedroom smells pleasantly of wet dirt. Hopefully this summer I will have delicious homemade salsa! (I'm going to transplant the tomatoes and peppers outside after there is no risk of the landscapers mistaking them for weeds.)

Mmm, I love cilantro! But I don't know if I'll try to grow it again: it bolts too quickly in the hot weather.

I will expect pics later in the season!

Seriously... I could keep cilantro around just for the sake of smelling it all the time. I hope that by keeping the cilantro indoors it will do well in spite of the heat.

There will definitely be pics. At the moment it would be boring, just a little metal bucket in my window.

I've let it go to seed and harvested the seeds (coriander) before, but honestly: for all the trouble it was, I can buy coriander for cheap! (And you're talking to someone who is OBSESSED with growing/making things herself! So...yeah. Bit of a hassle!)

Hmm, let me know how it does indoors! I'm tempted to try it that was myself... (Or maybe just a little pot of it on the back patio. It's just SO YUMMY!)
