One of my students puked today, and guess who got to clean it up? I'll spare you all the disgusting details, but let me assure you: they are disgusting and they are very detailed.

I'll tell ya, it really puts things into perspective: any day you don't have to clean up vomit is a pretty damn good day. Conversely, today...

Anyway. I need to start writing something again. Since waiting for inspiration to strike seems to be a bust, I've decided it would be best to force myself to work on something. And why not let my flist arbitrarily decide what that something should be? So, here it is: ANOTHER POLL! Oh, how I spoil you all...


For those who are playing along at home, here's a rundown of your choices:

The detective/accountant original fiction story started for pulped_fictions.
Current word count: 3,000
Started for a Winterval challenge over at pulped_fictions, this is a story about an accountant who shares an office with a private detective. One day, he bumps into an irate client of his somewhat uncouth officemate and ends up getting dragged into her case, involving a scheming uncle and a misappropriated collection of vintage costume jewelry.

The fairy tale verse started for dark_fest.
Current word count: 400
The prompt: "You know all those princesses in fairy tales? Different princesses: same prince." This is a story of a prince who compulsively rescues princesses, only to find them flawed and then "discard" them. Written in dactylic hexameter. *slaps forehead*

The epic Doctor Who multi-chapter WIP of Shame up on ff.net
Current word count: 16,000
Set sometime in the middle of series 5, the crack in Amy's wall (that's really a crack in time) is widening and about to rip the universe apart. Amy, Rory, and the Doctor are pulled into a parallel universe where instead of growing up an orphaned only child, Amy has an older sister, Karen. Who is engaged to Rory. And the universe is falling apart. (This story requires some re-working, as the ending I had originally intended just doesn't seem satisfying anymore. Also, I don't like the last few chapters I posted, and where I was taking the story. Lesson learned: don't post WIPs. Fortunately, some brainstorming with evilhippo has given me some idea where I want to go with this.)
